Testing Results for Week of Nov. 15

Our regular weekly testing clinic was held on Tuesday, Nov. 16. A total of 79 individuals were tested and there were three positive results. The entire campus community (faculty, staff, students) will be required to test upon return from Thanksgiving break on either Tuesday, November 30 or Wednesday, Dec. 1.

Report on Nov. 17 COVID Vaccine Clinic

A vaccine clinic was held on Wednesday, Nov. 17, for anyone who needed a second or a booster shot. The clinic administered 18 second doses and 63 booster shots. We are looking at scheduling another vaccination clinic before the end of the semester.

Update on Vaccine Mandate

We are now several weeks past the deadline for our vaccine mandate, and we are pleased that the vast majority of our faculty, staff, and students have complied with the mandate or have obtained a religious or medical exemption. We continue to follow up with those who may still need a second shot for full compliance.

If you need to submit proof of your second shot, please upload using the following links:

Visitor Policy

The Health and Safety Task Force recommended a visitor policy to Cabinet for its consideration. Of primary concern were overnight guests, visitor attendance in classrooms, and events where food is being served, which would cause participants to be unmasked. It is our hope that this policy can be used as a guide to plan and prepare for events along with the Activity Matrix.

Have a Safe Thanksgiving Break: What is Your Favorite Side Dish?

We know that many people will be traveling to spend Thanksgiving with family and friends. We hope that you are able to spend quality time with your loved ones and we encourage you to continue to practice the 3 W’s of Wait (3 to 6 feet), Wash (your hands frequently), and Wear (a mask).

Many communities (including Guilford County) have dropped mandates to mask indoors in public spaces, but we encourage you to continue wearing your mask for your own protection whenever you are with people who you may not know well or who you know are not vaccinated.

Of course, none of us will be wearing masks as we sit down to Thanksgiving dinner, and with that in mind, we want to ask: What is your favorite side dish? Enjoy this map of each state’s most popular Thanksgiving side dishes!

The Health and Safety Task Force continues to meet weekly to discuss questions about holding in-person events indoors, especially those where members of the greater Greensboro community might be in attendance, and to provide clarification on our Activity Matrix. If you have a question for the committee, please send it to taskforce@guilford.edu.

We will issue our next report on Dec. 2.  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Sincerely,

The Health and Safety Task Force
