Meet the James Beard Cookbook Hall of Fame and Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Dr. Jessica B. Harris at 7 pm, Thursday, March 7 at the Greensboro History Museum, 130 Summit Ave. Dr. Harris will be in conversation with Dr. Love Jones, Director of the Human Rights Department at the City of Greensboro.
Dr. Harris is the author of twelve critically acclaimed books documenting the foods and foodways of the African Diaspora including High on the Hog: A Culinary Journey from Africa to America, which has been made into a Netflix series. She has written for most of the major food magazines including Gourmet, Saveur, Food & Wine, Cooking Light, Southern Living, and Eating Well. Dr. Harris has also made numerous television appearances on shows including The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Main Ingredient, and B. Smith with Style.
There will be a reception and live entertainment with Katie Blvd. beginning at 6:15 pm. This free event is sponsored by the Greensboro Public Library Foundation as part of the library’s One City, One Book programming focused on The Carolina Table: NC Writers on Food edited by Randall Kenan.
