Did you know the City already allows residents in single-family residential districts to build accessory dwelling units (ADUs) on their property?

You need a permit to add that mother-in-law apartment, backyard bungalow or garage apartment, and City Planning Department staff have proposed ADU ordinance changes to simplify the review process.

The City is asking residents to complete this brief online survey about ADUs by 5 pm March 18 to continue the conversation it started during virtual Open House meetings in January.

Visit www.greensboro-nc.gov/ADUs to review FAQs about the proposed ADU ordinance changes and read more about what ADUs are and how they can benefit a community.
