Latisha McNeil, manager of the City’s Office of Community Safety, has been appointed to the Community Violence Advisory Board for the state’s newly created Office of Violence Prevention (OVP).
According to a NC Department of Public Safety news release, McNeil and other advisory board members will provide guidance to OVP and assist in developing its strategic plan for reducing violence.
OVP, established in March within the Department of Public Safety and in coordination with the Department of Health and Human Services, will use a public health approach to implement a state-wide strategy for reducing violence.
“I’m honored to be appointed to serve on this board that is dedicated to developing comprehensive strategies to address violence across the state of North Carolina,” McNeil said. This is an opportunity for the collaborative spirit and innovative practices we currently have within the City of Greensboro to be on full display.”
“I am looking forward to working with my fellow board members to create lasting impact and foster a safer, more peaceful North Carolina for us all.”
