The City’s inaugural Low Income Homeowner Assistance Program has concluded with nearly 200 homeowners receiving assistance. Total program support, which aided eligible homeowners with their 2022 property taxes, was approximately $38,800.

The average household support was about $200. Homeowners in all five City Council districts participated in the program. Here are the numbers of participants (also see the map):

66 (33%) – District 1

40 (20%) – District 2

37 (19%) – District 3

24 (12%) – District 4

31 (16%) – District 5.

From April to June this year, residents were able to apply for the program using an online application system that offered dozens of languages from which to choose. The system translated applications as needed.

Hard copies of the application in several languages were also available at Greensboro public libraries and library staff assisted residents with access to the online system. City staff also attended several public events throughout Greensboro to encourage residents to apply.
