The Greensboro History Museum has received a grant from North Carolina Humanities to take its award-winning exhibit, NC Democracy: Eleven Elections, into the community to engage students and teachers. “We are grateful to be among the organizations North Carolina Humanities selected to receive grant funding,” said Museum Director Carol Ghiorsi Hart.
The grant will support a series of teacher workshops and Traveling Trunks geared towards 4th and 5th grade students. Trunks will contain hands-on activities, lesson plans, and resources that will give students the tools they need to engage with the political history of North Carolina.
North Carolina Humanities works to connect North Carolinians with cultural experiences that spur dialogue, deepen human connections, and inspire community. The statewide nonprofit is one of the oldest and largest cultural funders in North Carolina.
The Greensboro History Museum, an AAM-accredited Smithsonian Affiliate, is a division of the City of Greensboro Libraries Department and operates as a public-private partnership with the nonprofit GHM Inc.
