GuilfordWorks, in partnership with NCWorks and Triad Goodwill, is expanding its Fresh Start initiative to include immigrant and refugee populations. Through the Fresh Start initiative, Guilford
Works helps traditionally underserved communities find meaningful employment while providing support and resources through community partners. The initial round of Fresh Start events, hosted in March, concentrated on justice-served individuals.
GuilfordWorks will host a series of events throughout June called Fresh Start: Helping Immigrants and Refugees get Employed (HIRE) to support the ongoing effort. The first of these events is slated for Thursday, June 8, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the NCWorks Career Center, 2301 W. Meadowview Rd. The event provides local employers with information about the benefits of hiring individuals from the city’s immigrant and refugee populations.
The next session is June 15, from 10 am to 1 pm at the NCWorks Career Center and aims to prepare immigrants and refugees to find and retain a job. The last event is slated for June 20 from 11 am to 3 pm at the same location. This hiring and resource event connects employers and additional resources with the immigrant and refugee populations. For more information about these events, visit GuilfordWorks.org.
