From March 28, 2023 post.
Yesterday, Greensboro Housing and Neighborhood Development had the distinct honor of hosting the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Southeast Regional Administrator, José Alvarez, to celebrate the ribbon cutting at Redhill Pointe apartment community.
The Redhill Pointe units developed by Affordable Housing Management, Inc. in partnership with the City of Greensboro helped Greensboro to surpass its HUD #HouseAmerica housing creation goals with 21 of the units serving households at or below 30% of area median income.
Greensboro was one of two jurisdictions in the state of North Carolina that met #HouseAmerica goals. Greensboro’s rehousing goal was 200 placements and housing creation goal was 72 units from September 2021 to December 2022.
“We are thrilled to report that we surpassed both those targets,” says Michelle Kennedy, director of Housing and Neighborhood Development. “Our total rehousing placements were 209 individuals/families and our housing creation units totaled 90.”
#HouseAmerica is a federal initiative of HUD and the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness that uses American Rescue Plan funding to address homelessness.
Thank you to all our partners that helped us exceed our #HouseAmerica goals!
