From March 4, 2023 post.

Last night, Commissioners Kay Cashion and Alan Perdue presented resolutions honoring local Special Olympics heroes retired Guilford County Sheriff's Office Deputy David Keith Jones & Law Enforcement Athlete Ambassador Dustin Edmondson for outstanding contributions to Special Olympics NC.

Mr. Jones, a former Master Corporal, served 30 years with the GC Sheriff’s Department. In 2022, he was inducted into the Chief Richard LaMunyon International Law Enforcement Torch Run Hall of Fame in recognition of more than 25 years of service to the North Carolina Law Enforcement Torch Run.

As for Mr. Edmondson, he is heading to Berlin, Germany, to compete in the 2023 Special Olympics World Summer Games. He is one of the Final Leg Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics runners on behalf of the Special Olympics North Carolina. Commissioners presented him with a Guilford County pin and asked him to wear it in honor of our community. Best of luck, Dustin!!

We appreciate both of their commitment and dedication to raising awareness and support for the #SpecialOlympics!
