Her computer, complete with pink keyboard, can be found in the front office of Southwest Elementary, but Kinyetta Williams isn’t likely to be sitting at her computer for very long.
As general assistant, her job is to do whatever is needed, whether that’s helping scan in OneCards for more than 800 students, administering medicine to students on a care plan, or substituting in a classroom. Ms. K, as she’s known, loves the variety of her day and the students and families she serves. Yesterday, she was named the September GCS Employee of the Month.
Williams was nominated by several individuals who worked with her during summer learning. Wrote Michelle Tesiero of Colfax Elementary, “Her presence creates an inviting environment. When you enter Southwest Elementary, you are welcomed with a cheerful greeting and a genuine smile. Ms. K is consistently friendly and has a positive attitude. She is a team player who always makes herself available to help in any way she can. During summer school, she went out of her way to be kind, supportive and helpful to students and staff members who came from other schools. Her spirit, energy and enthusiasm make Southwest Elementary a great place to work and learn!”
Williams received a $50 gift card courtesy of the Greensboro Jaycees. During the month of September, her photo will hang at the district’s central offices, at Southwest Elementary and at the Greensboro Jaycees office.
