In addition to two new master's degrees this fall, the College is launching a Presidential Fellowship program for graduate students. This opportunity is designed for Guilford students who are about to graduate or are within two years of their graduation date.
The program is an excellent opportunity for graduating seniors or recent graduates to continue their education at Guilford and gain experience in higher-education administration. This fellowship will support graduate students along their leadership path while strengthening their connections to the Guilford community.
The deadline to apply for the 2022 program is April 29.
“Students in this program will have opportunities to grow professionally, to advance their skills as leaders representing Guilford, and to engage in new academic explorations,” says President Kyle Farmbry. “I expect these students will be really well positioned for whatever comes after the completion of their master's studies.”

Program coordinators are looking for applicants who have leadership potential and have an interest in higher-education administration. That's because each fellow will be required to work 20 hours per week in one of three College offices: Advancement and Alumni Relations, Communications and Marketing, or the Office of the Provost.
“We seek diverse students who want to cultivate their leadership potential in many forms, from community service to governance to mentorship,” says Kathryn Shields, Professor of Art and Assistant Academic Dean. “Students interested in actively participating in their community and significantly contributing to what happens here at Guilford will be a good fit for this fellowship.”
Students selected for the program will pursue their master’s degrees full time in one of Guilford’s three graduate programs: Business Administration*, Criminal Justice, or International Sport Management*.
Students selected as fellows will receive:
• Full tuition coverage for their master’s program
• On-campus housing
• A stipend of $2,000 per month
• Student health insurance
• And higher-education administrative experience that they can use to leverage their careers following the completion of their master’s degree programs.
Fellows are expected to maintain good academic standing during their participation in the program. The fellowship will last as long as the student is in the master’s program, with a maximum of 18 months.
A selection process will occur in late April through early May. The program will begin in August. Applications will be reviewed by the directors of Guilford's graduate programs, as well as by leadership from the administrative offices in which the fellows will be working.
Interested students should be on the lookout for information sessions during the upcoming three-week session. Students with questions are encouraged to reach out to presidentialfellowship@guilford.edu. More information on how to apply can be found on the Presidential Fellows webpage.
