Guilford County Schools issued the following announcement on Feb. 24.
David Miller will retain his status as a member of the Board of Trustees for Guilford Technical Community College, and he will be joined by newcomer William Levette. The appointments, which are made annually by the Guilford County Board of Education and required by law, were approved at Thursday’s board meeting.
Miller has been a GTCC trustee since 1999. He is the president of DS Miller in High Point and has been a member of the board of directors for Guilford Education Alliance since 2012. He has also held leadership positions with United Way of North Carolina, High Point Community Foundation, Open Door Ministries and Guilford County Partners Ending Homelessness. He will retain his seat through June 30, 2025.
Levette is a GCS parent and president of the Ben L. Smith Athletic Booster Club. He is a mortgage processor at Wells Fargo Bank and is expected to earn his bachelor’s degree in supply chain management from North Carolina A&T State University in August. His term as a trustee runs from March 1, 2022, to June 30, 2024.
Per NC state statute 115D-12, the board of education appoints individuals (on staggered terms) to the Board of Trustees of Guilford Technical Community College to represent the district’s interest and to ensure greater connectivity between the institutions.
