Kara Baldwin named director of grant sponsored programs at GTCC

Guilford Technical Community College issued the following announcement on Feb. 8.

Kara Baldwin has been named the director of grant sponsored programs at Guilford Technical Community College.

As director, Baldwin will be responsible for developing and providing leadership in the strategic planning, budgeting and development for grants and contracts and key services supporting proposal preparation and submission to external funding sources.

"I'm so excited to join Guilford Technical Community College and be a part of an institution that makes such a positive impact in our community," Baldwin said. "I look forward to working with faculty and staff to develop and secure grant funds that provide innovative learning experiences for our students."

"Kara is a wonderful addition to GTCC. She brings a vast amount of experience and expertise in both grant writing and management that is going to help 'make amazing happen' for our students and the college,” said Beth Pitonzo, Ph.D., senior vice president of instruction. "We are excited she decided to join GTCC and look forward to working with her."

For the past five years Baldwin was the director of federal TRIO programs at the University of North Carolina Greensboro where she oversaw four grant programs and supervised a professional staff of 12.

Baldwin holds a doctorate in English literature from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, a master's in English literature from Clemson University, and a bachelor's in Geology and English from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.
