High Point University issued the following announcement on Feb. 4.

High Point University recently welcomed local business owners and city of High Point leaders to celebrate HPU’s continued partnerships with the growing city in which it resides.

The annual Community Partner Luncheon honors the dedication of businesses and organizations to welcome the 100,000 visitors HPU attracts to the city each year.

“We are grateful to the many local businesses who welcome the thousands of visitors to the city of High Point annually,” said HPU President Dr. Nido Qubein. “We are High Point’s university, and we want to make sure our community partners know how much we appreciate their continued support in making our families feel at home.”

Each year at the event, several businesses are honored for their dedication to moving the city forward. The following awards were presented:

HPU’s 2021 Spirit to Serve Award – LaQuinta Hotel

This award honored the extraordinary service of LaQuinta Hotel. General Manager Nikki Lee accepted the award at the luncheon.

“Receiving the Spirit to Serve Award allows us to demonstrate our commitment and dedication to the satisfaction of our guests and clients,” said Lee. “We take seriously the determination to give everyone a peace of mind during their stay. We truly appreciate the honor and will continue to be a community partner for High Point University.”

HPU’s 2021 Crowd Favorite Award – High Point Bagels

Mat Greenberg, founder of High Point Bagels, received the Crowd Favorite Award during the event. He serves his popular New York-inspired bagels in High Point every day. Originally from New York, he is known to bring in water from the state to make the bagels because he says it makes them taste better. HPU students and their families from the Northeast frequently tell Greenberg that they love his restaurant.

“It was an honor being presented this award in front of my peers,” said Greenberg. “My team can’t put into words how great it feels to have our product and hard work appreciated by such a great group of students and staff!”

HPU’s Five-Star Review Award – Beamer Tire

Beamer Tire owner Doug Beamer accepted the Five-Star Review Award. HPU family members frequently refer Beamer Tire to each other on Facebook, and the company has locations throughout the Triad in High Point, Greensboro and Kernersville. Michael Gaskin, general manager of Beamer Tire High Point, says that servant leadership is their priority, and this award further validates that they are fulfilling their mission in the Triad.

“Every day we ask ourselves, ‘What are we doing to serve others?’” said Gaskin. “This award means that we are accomplishing our vision of providing the best customer service experience possible in the Automotive Repair Industry. We are so grateful for the opportunity to partner with High Point University.”
