North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University issued the following announcement on Oct. 1.
Senior, journalism and mass communication student at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Christian “CDK on the Mic” Kornegay was recently surprised by actor, producer and entertainer, Nick Cannon, who will assist with paying off Kornegay’s student loan debt upon his graduation.
Cannon partnered with the United Negro College Fund and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund to ensure Kornegay and six other students from other historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) graduate debt free. Cannon is an alumnus of Howard University, an HBCU in Washington, D.C.
Cannon was inspired by the students and wanted to assist with their continued education.
“I was so moved by your stories and the obstacles you all have overcome that I want to help you out,” Cannon said during his talk show. So, our show has partnered with some of the biggest national scholarship providers, such as the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, to grant each of you a scholarship to cover your outstanding educational loan balance. You heard me right, once you earn your college degree, we’re wiping out your personal student debt.”
Popular on campus as a vibrant student media personality and DJ, Kornegay sat down with us for a quick interview.
