Guilford County Residents Invited to Attend Public Meetings on COVID-19 Impacts and Recovery Funding Priorities

Guilford County issued the following announcement on Sept. 14.

What are the top 2-3 things that significantly impacted your family or business during COVID? How could $104 million of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Funding best support Guilford County communities? The Guilford County’s Board of Commissioners want to hear from you!

You’re invited to attend a Community Conversation in your district! These meetings will provide you with the opportunity to reflect on how the pandemic has affected your family or business. You will also have the chance to provide your initial reactions on how you think ARPA funding should be prioritized in the County.

Each meeting will take place in person from 6:30 to 7:30pm on the dates listed below.

  • September 20 - Southeast Guilford High School Gymnasium, 4530 Southeast School Road, Greensboro, NC 27406
  • September 22 - Dudley High School Gymnasium, 1200 Lincoln Street, Greensboro, NC 27401
  • September 23 - Northeast Guilford High School Auditorium, 6700 McLeansville Road, McLeansville, NC 27301
  • September 27 - Northwest High School Gymnasium, 5240 NW School Road, Greensboro, NC 27409
  • September 29 - Southwest High School Gymnasium, 4364 Barrow Road, High Point, NC 27265
Masks will be required during attendance per Guilford County’s Indoor Mask Rule.

Residents can also submit their comments via an online survey by September 30, 2021.

The U.S. Department of Treasury, under ARPA, allocated $362 billion dollars nationwide for the America Rescue Plan – Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds. Chatham County Board of Commissioners accepted the award of $104 million at the July 15, 2021 Board meeting. Acceptable uses outlined in the bill include but are not limited to:

  • Respond to or mitigate the public health emergency with respect to the COVID-19 emergency or its negative economic impact;
  • Provide government services to the extent of the reduction in revenue;
  • Make necessary investments in water, sewer, or broadband infrastructure;
  • Respond to workers performing essential work during the COVID-19 public health emergency
