High Point University issued the following announcement on Aug. 13.

With another Commencement behind us, High Point University graduates will be commencing prestigious career paths around the world at Fortune 500 companies, international service programs, public school systems, top-tier law, medical and graduate school programs, and many other esteemed organizations thanks to their journey at HPU. Here’s a glimpse of one extraordinary senior from the Class of 2021:

Name: Brittany Giuliani

Hometown: Long Island, New York

Major: Psychology with a minor in human relations

Post-graduation plans: Giuliani will be attending Fairleigh Dickinson University.

How HPU helped you get there: “The professors at High Point University, specifically in the Psychology Department, guided me in so many ways to reach this point. Confidence was instilled in me that I never had before. Academic advisors and success coaches were always available and wanted to see you succeed. Without their help, I do not know if I would be as confident and ready to take on graduate school as I am. One really awesome thing about HPU is not only the Office of Career and Professional Development but the classes that implement this into the curriculum. I took a course that helped me create my resume, take assessments on my career goals and create a LinkedIn profile, which put me at an advantage when it came to applications for graduate school.”

Most impactful mentor at HPU: “My most impactful mentor at HPU was Dr. Gregg Hundt in the Psychology Department. He always was an open ear when I needed help or just wanted to talk. He guided me through difficult course work, pushed me to be a tutor in statistics, and provided me opportunities that pushed me out of my comfort zone while at HPU.”

Most impactful moment at HPU: “My most impactful moment at HPU was being a student instructor for Dr. Elders’ Introduction to Psychology course. Being able to help students in a first-year class with not only the material, but study strategies was so rewarding. This experience made me realize even more, that I want to be in a school setting for the majority of my life, leading me to school psychology.”

Advice for underclassmen: “My advice for upperclassmen is to use all of the resources HPU gives. It is easy to take all of the amazing opportunities for granted since we have become used to having them around and available. However, the real world is not going to sit with you and create a LinkedIn profile or provide free ice cream for a stressful week. Take it all in and enjoy!”
