"Maestra": Film Viewing and Discussion

Come watch a 33-minute documentary film about the youngest women teachers of the 1961 Cuban Literacy Campaign. In 1961, Cuba aimed to eradicate illiteracy in one year. It sent 250,000 volunteers across the island to teach reading and writing in rural communities. The film maker , Catherine and one of the maestras, Norma will be here to discuss the film. Several people will be on hand to translate. This is truly a special opportunity for all of us.
