A new poll from High Point University found 83% of Guilford County registered voters would support a $300 million bond to finance schools' improvements.

The bond referendum is on the November General Election ballot. The High Point study noted that 13% of respondents were undecided and approximately 5% would not support borrowing $300 million for school improvements, the university reported on Aug. 27

"On the November 2020 election ballot is a Guilford County bond to provide $300 million to Guilford County Schools to improve school facilities," the poll read. "Do you think you will vote for or vote against this county bond?"

The High Point University Poll was conducted via live researchers who worked remotely through the High Point University Survey Research Center.

The researchers called 428 registered voters who reside in Guilford County. All 428 voters were contacted on landline or cellular telephones.

The poll also asked about the direction of the state's publication education. Nearly 50% of those who responded said that the state's public education was not heading in the right direction compared to 30% who said it was.

The university's poll has +/- error margin of 5.6%.
