On Tuesday, March 18, former Southwest Guilford High School standout Joe'l Pettiford’s current collegiate team the UNC Pembroke Braves lost 76-74 against the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears in the NCAA Division II Basketball Championship Tournament.

Hosted in Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center, this was the first game against the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears during the championship.

Joe'l Pettiford’s hometown is High Point and game position is forward.
