A coding program in Guilford County was one of six recipients to receive an NCWorks Awards of Distinction.
Code Guilford: Community Coding Workforce Initiative of Guilford County, the governor's office said in an October release about the awards honoring workforce development.
"These award winners are focused on getting North Carolina job-ready, connecting workers to the skills they need as well as employers who need those workers," Cooper said in the release.
Code Guilford: Community Coding Workforce Initiative of Guilford County won Outstanding Innovative Partnership for work in developing the information technology workforce, the release said.
The program "created a unique educational opportunity to introduce youth and adults to computer science and related careers," the governor's office said in the release.
"Each of these honorees stand out for their contributions to develop our state's workforce and has a big role in helping our state recover from economic challenges that we face."
