Town of Oak Ridge issued the following announcement on Feb. 13.
Input on youth athletics in Oak Ridge being sought
The Oak Ridge Town Council recently created a Youth Athletics Subcommittee in order to take a fresh look at the ways the Town currently supports youth athletics and how it might consider adjusting that support. The subcommittee will consider the current partnership between Oak Ridge Youth Association (ORYA) and the Town to determine the best ways to serve the youth and families of the Town.
The subcommittee has been tasked with:
• Gathering input from stakeholders, including ORYA Board members, coaches, and parents served by ORYA in the past and currently, Parks & Recreation Advisory Board members, community members, and others as appropriate
• Conducting financial analysis and research, as well as best practices in other towns (as necessary)
• Presenting recommendations, including any proposed budget changes, to the Town Council by April 1
