Guilford County issued the following announcement on Feb. 23.

Southwest Park marina, located at 6309 Southwest Park Dr., will open for the 2022 season on Wednesday, March 2 at 8 a.m. The marina closes each winter in compliance with the Piedmont Triad Regional Water Authority’s regulations on the lake. Beginning March 2, the marina will be opened from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. The park will extend hours beginning in April. Guest will be able to visit the marina from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Boaters and fishers can enjoy miles of open water on the Randleman Regional Reservoirs. In addition to launching personal crafts, Southwest Park has kayaks and jon boats for rent. Kayaks will be able to rent April 1 due to air temperature and water temperature requirements. Due to COVID, guest must bring their own personal life saving device. Please note that swimming, water skiing, jet skis, bank fishing, and gasoline motors are strictly prohibited. Visitors are strongly encouraged to catch and release. Snacks, drinks, and fishing tackle are available for purchase at Southwest Park.

Southwest Park is a 513-acre property owned and operated by Guilford County Parks. In addition to the marina, visitors can choose from a wide variety of outdoor experiences to enjoy. The park has hiking trails, a dog park, picnic shelters, playgrounds and plenty of open space.
