Guilford College issued the following announcement on Sept. 3.

Clark Merrifield recently wrote an article entitled “How racial and ethnic biases are baked into the U.S. tax system” that featured research by Bob Williams, Sulon Bibb Stedman Professor of Economics at Guilford College.

The review article explains how tax policy at all levels of government affects taxpayers- and their ability to build wealth- differently by race and ethnicity.

Bob was interviewed for the article as well as shared his recent publication “Federal Wealth Policy and the Perpetuation of White Supremacy” published last March in the Review of Black Political Economy.

The Journalist’s Resource serves as an important link between academic research and journalism with the goal of bringing high quality research into the media stream. To combat misinformation, the journal reports on recent research findings using clear and simple language. It is a project of Harvard’s Kennedy School Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics, and Public Policy.
