High Point University issued the following announcement on Sept. 9.
High Point University recently welcomed its sixth cohort of pharmacy students in the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy, the Triad region’s only pharmacy school. The class of 2025 consists of 63 students.
The students took part in a traditional White Coat Ceremony to welcome them into the profession. It is also a time for beginning students to learn about their responsibility to balance a broad basic scientific and clinical knowledge with compassionate patient care.
“The white coat ceremony was a dream come true,” said Tierra Wilson from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. “And made me realize I’m that much closer to my lifelong dream of being a pharmacist to not only impact lives but help improve health conditions.”
Students also dedicated their Aug. 23 Orientation as a day of service to the city of High Point and completed various service projects. Students volunteered at Community Clinic of High Point, Washington Enrichment Program, Guilford County Solution to the Opioid Problem (GCSTOP), New Life Family Outreach, Open Door Ministries, Ward Street Community Resources, Growing High Point, Roy B. Culler Senior Center, HOP Shop Thrift Store and Habitat for Humanity. Projects included cleaning, organizing, gardening and painting.
