Guilford County Schools issued the following announcement on Sept. 17.

September 15 is a significant day because it is the anniversary of independence for Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.

The anniversary of independence for Mexico is on September 16 and Chile celebrates their anniversary of independence on September 18.
